Process

Close collaboration is the key to effective structural design that offers the best outcome for clients and communities. Strong partnerships and robust processes are crucial for ensuring project success.

From start to finish, we will be by your side to act as a mediator and guide you towards choices that:

  • meet your brief and design vision

  • reduce building and running costs

  • achieve programme savings

  • minimise impact on the community and the environment.

Delivery steps

Small projects

Following a first site visit, within three weeks, we will send you the structural drawings, specifications and a calculation report for building control approval.

Working with your chosen contractor at both the tender and build stages, we’ll ensure the project is completed smoothly. We aim to respond to site queries within 48 hours.

A helpful document for finding a structural engineer for your home project can be found here.

Large projects

We follow the IStructE Plan of Work for structural engineers to ensure you experience a more collaborative, efficient and accountable process.

The IStructE Plan of Work aligns with RIBA’s for building design and construction professionals. This sets out architectural deliverables, whereas the IStructE version presents structural engineering deliverables.

These match RIBA’s four design stages: briefing, design, delivery and evaluation. Sustainability is a core consideration and deliverable at each stage.
